We’re a nation of knee-jerk responders

When TV interviews go very bad

While it’s not quite “Boom Goes the Dynamite,” this horribly awkward interview ranks up there as disastrous on-air situations go — for what should be routine broadcasting. I’m not sure who I feel more sorry for — Holly Hunter or the interviewer. The interviewer babbles like the ninth-grader who didn’t prepare for her speech in English class, and Holly Hunter seems positively nonplussed. Read the rest of this entry »

I loathe thee. Let me count the ways

This past weekend — channeling around aimlessly and landing on MTV by mistake — made me a witness to what might be the worst television I’ve ever seen. It was some cringe-inducing, awful-awful-awful, can’t-believe-they-made-this, useless, contemptible garbage. I would’ve changed the channel, but I was not in control of the remote at the moment. Someone else decided they would see if the show was maybe funny. (It wasn’t.) So, right up front, I’m absolving myself for having been a viewer. Read the rest of this entry »
